When my kitchen got a make over I decided I need new stools. The look of industrial style Tolix chairs was what I wanted but I knew the real thing would be pricy. And it is.
I did a search about the Tolix company and here’s what I learned:
A French family of zinc roofers discovered that they could protect their metal from rusting by galvanizing it. Years later they set up a factory and started making household items. It was in 1927 that they registered the trademark TOLIX, and started production of chairs, armchairs, stools and metal furniture. They are still manufacturing today.

source Antiquaire, the real deal!
Interior Secrets is another source.
I inquired at Antiquaire about the price of the stools I needed, but at almost $500 each it was too much for me. I needed to find some knock offs, in counter height that were much less moolah!
I found mine at Industry West for $145.
Yes, I was a little worried that they would be cheap and fall apart quickly but they are perfect! Just what I wanted.
This is the galvanized finish.

After being sick since mid November I’m finally starting to feel a lot better. I still have a cough but I’m hoping this 2nd round of antibiotics will kick this to the curb at last. Been to the Dr. 3 times so let’s hope the 3rd time is the charm. You know I’m feeling better when I’m thinking about things, like painting!
Thanks for visiting!
