The Haven 2012 bloggers conference was THE place to be for 2 days in June. This bloggers conference was fun, informative and full of women (mostly) with tons in common. By now you may have read glowing reviews from DIY bloggers who wielded power tools and paint brushes while networking with like minded bloggers. Here’s my take on the conference.
The sponsors were amazing! Here’s Rhoda getting a demo from Kreg. Yes, we all got a mini jig! It’s perfect for finishing my upper cabinet project. Talk about swag……because I was flying, I didn’t even bring it all home with me.

Here’s my swag and I even won a Moen showerhead that swivels!

No luck spinning the wheel to win a quart of Annie Sloan.

There were sessions chock full of useful info for DIYers, photo takers and designers.
Kevin and Layla Palmer and Josh Moates held one of my favorite sessions on photography and photo styling.

It was fun and I really learned a ton.

I attended the Design Studio session presented by Darlene Weir from Fieldstone Hill, and Sherry Hart and Erika Ward, Atlanta based designers. Each presented a different approach to decorating a room. Darlene suggested studying all your pins to find a common element that will help you define your own personal style and prevent you from being too influenced by trends. great idea!
Miss Mustard Seed introduced the very charming Mr. Goodwill Hunting. He’s such a fun guy. I can’t say I learned a lot, but I was totally entertained. He could be a stand up comic or even a preacher in his next career.

He can sure preach some thrifting!

I even got a pic with both of us wearing our retro glasses.

Sadly the conference had to end. Here’s some the team behind Haven at the Q and A session.

At last I finally got to meet Rhoda. I’ve known her online for years! She’s every bit as sweet as I imagined.

I left with a mountain of business cards and good memories.
Let’s hope for a Haven 2013! I’ll be there for sure.
Traveling by air really tires me out and I was glad to be home to gather my thoughts sleep and let the experience sink in sleep before I posted a recap. Tomorrow it’s back to the cabinet project.
Here’s my first post about Haven and my traveling woes.

Thanks for visiting! Debbie (((xx)))

It sounds like they packed a lot into two days, Debbie. It all sounds wonderful though and I’ll bet it was a lot of fun. I’m hoping to go next year {I put a reminder in my online calendar to start paying attention in March!}.

Debbie- it was so good to meet you and I only wished I had met your earlier at the conference instead of on the last day as we shared a cab (a nice one at that, huh?) to the airport. Looking forward to reading your blog.
So glad you made it down & yes, we finally got to meet after all these years. It was a blur of fun & activity, can’t believe it is over. We are so happy with how it all turned out & hopefully we can do it again!
Hi! Great recap! I’m going through my tons of business cards from Haven and just wanted to stop by and say hi!
It looks like it was a wonderful conference (except for your traveling turmoils!) Thank you so much for posting the pics here. You went to the sessions that I would have chosen, so it was good to get a peek into them. I really wanted to go to the photography session with Kevin Palmer. (His online class was great!) I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to go next summer.
