Little green guest room reveal.

I’ve only wanted to paint this room for a couple of years but it’s done at last. Finally. It’s only a small room, about 8 x 10, and I don’t really know why it took so long.

First I posted about picking the color, because that’s always a hard job for me. The color I chose is Aloe Vera by Olympic paints from Lowe’s.  After I was finished painting, I had some painter’s remorse, but as soon as I started finishing other projects for the space, I started to really like the color.  It’s a limey green, kind of lively.

Painting fabric on a chair was the next project. I do like how the chair turned out, but I’m not sure I’d ever do it again.q2012_01_18_3439

I posted the question, would you paint this?  No, was the answer I got from the comments. So I didn’t!

ombre chest

Using the leftover chair paint I created this cute ombre chest.

Fabric scraps became drawer pulls and covered a lampshade.

Here’s the room now. I apologize for the poor picture quality. I’m slowly learning how to use the manual mode of my camera, but as you can see I haven’t mastered it yet.

iron bed

The tree is actually 3 branches and part of a root. I lightly sprayed them white, outside, on one of those gorgeous warm days. The zebra curtains and pillow are from my daughter. The other bedding I already had. The chest belonged to my Mom and the black chandelier pillow is from a giveaway I won from Kathy at Creative Home Expressions.   The iron bed is from a yardsale.

Here’s the corner with the painted chair, it was given to me by my grandmother, another pillow I won and some recycled art.

bird prints

I painted and distressed the frames, painted the mats and printed out birds on the computer.  A little dab of hot glue holds the twig to the wall.

The top of the chest holds a collection of ladies’ compacts and boot hooks. The walls aren’t different colors,  it was the camera’s fault!

This mirror and the lamp are also from a yardsale and were sprayed white.

A collection of aqua and green glass sits on the buffet and I ordered some peacock feathers for the big vase.

There’s pretty much empty wall space in this room but I’m not in a hurry to fill it up. I tried 2 times to create some typography art and 2 times failed. Someday I’ll give it another go but til then the walls will be bare.

This room might be a bit too sweet or teenage-ish for some, but it’s a bright spot for me. I’ve always wanted a lime green room.

I like it. a lot!! We are in the midst of redoing my son's bedroom lime green and black with satin nickel finishes. We did paint. I can't wait to finish the details so we can reveal it.

Well done! I think you were very creative with your color mix in the room. Very brave too! I am glad you chose not to paint that beautiful chest, hopefully you are as well. Have an enjoyable day!

I think it came together great, Debbie! I love each individual project and how it all looks together. Love that you painted the mats in the frames. This looks like a nice little "escape" room, too. Thanks for the shout out ~ the pillows look great in here!

Hey, Deb! That looks great, love the cozy feel & of course, the colors are yummy. Great job on repurposing. I'm with the others, I would not paint that pretty old tiger oak piece.

It's gorgeous. I love the little twiggie things everywhere. And despite the wall space you say you have, it doesn't look like it needs anything more. And the oak buffet look perfect the way it is. Good job!

Adorable! I love the green with the zebra striped curtains! The aqua touches are perfect!

I'm so glad you decided to leave the beautiful tiger oak dresser as is!!

    Hi Debbie,

Wow! I love everything about the room. The pillow you won from Kathy ties in so perfectly. The chair worked out terrific. Beautiful bird prints and the added twig is so clever…… Fantastic and fun curtains!

Your room is just charming! I love all the little touches you added. It has so much character and it's fun – just what a guest room should be. The oak buffet is beautiful as it is and it's good to have some natural wood in a room. But if you ever feel the urge to paint it, you have my vote, go for it!

I would never have thought lime green and turquoise would work in a room, but this is fabulous! Thanks for opening my eyes.
